Enugu govt: How Sujimoto boss, Olasijibomi Ogundele, defrauded us of N5.7bn.

The Enugu government has accused the embattled boss of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited, Olasijibomi Ogundele, of vanishing into thin air after receiving almost N5.7 billion of its money as part payment to build it the 22 Smart Green Schools across the state.
This is what the government of Enugu said in a statement it released after the announcement of the wantedness of the alleged money launderer and fund diverter, Ogundele, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) early Friday morning.
The boss of the Sujimoto company, in response to the EFCC statement, had recorded a video where he broke out into tears as he narrated how one of his contracts with the Enugu State government went bad.

During the time that the State Government dragged him to EFCC, Ogundele had alleged that the State Government was not providing sufficient funds to help him implement the projects.
The boss of the Sujimoto company had also refuted the allegation that he was on the run.

But in a statement on Friday evening, the Enugu State Government asked the Nigerians to ignore what it called the theatrics and crocodile tears of Ogundele on the failed contract issue.
This was included in an announcement made by the Enugu State Commissioner of Information and Communication, Dr Malachy Agbo.

The state government even promised that it is committed and will most certainly reclaim every penny of Ndi Enugu fraudulently acquired by Mr Olasijibomi Ogundele (Sujimoto), as it provided details of how the real estate tycoon had purportedly defrauded the state government of the N5.7 billion.

The Enugu government alleged in the statement that Ogundele defrauded it through premeditation and that although he submitted a bond issued by Jaiz Bank to win the contract, he opened a Zenith Bank account on behalf of the company with the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to collect the payment.
According to the state government, this rendered them powerless to sue Jaiz Bank in case of default of contract by Ogundele.
On July 2, 2024, the Enugu State Government awarded a contract amounting to N11,457,930,950.52 to Sujimoto Luxury Construction Ltd to construct 22 Smart Schools, said the statement.
