Samsung’s 45W charging tech was recently added to the Galaxy M55, making it the first mid-range phone to do so. When we got our review unit this week, we discovered it’s also the first Samsung phone with a 45W USB-C charge.
A USB-C cable is included with every Galaxy phone, even though charges are no longer in the box. The 25W charger from Samsung works with that USB-C cord, but it can’t charge things that need 45W.
The USB-C cord with Samsung’s 45W charger is thicker and can carry more power. This is the cable that Samsung put in the Galaxy M55 box.
The M55 has no charger, but Samsung could have sent it with the standard wire.
However, you get the 45W cable when you buy the official 45W travel adapter, so this is a nice touch. There is also an extra cable in the box, which is always helpful. It is even better that it is a high-speed connection.

You should decide if you need a 45W charger for what you want to use it for. When charging from 0% to 100%, 45W is a little faster than 25W, but it can make a big difference in the first half hour.
Even though Samsung doesn’t say how fast the Galaxy M55 charges with a 45W charger, our first tests show it takes about 70 minutes to charge fully.
That’s just 15 minutes faster than the Galaxy A55 charged with a 25W adapter, so we are interested in seeing if the M55 offers any real benefit when charged at 45W.
