SSS detains journalist Soyinka in Lagos.
Adejuwon Soyinka, a journalist for West African Regional Editor for conversation Africa and ex-BBC Pidgin Editor, was detained at Lagos Airport.
SSS held him at 5.40 a.m. upon his return from the UK. No reason given for the detention. Colleagues can’t reach him.
The SSS did not provide a reason for the detention, causing concern among colleagues who have been unable to reach him.
The detention of the award-winning journalist has raised questions about press freedom and security agency actions in Nigeria.
