WhatsApp has just released a beta tester update for version 2.24.24.16, adding new shortcuts to the chat screen. This version introduces a gallery shortcut to let you send phone photos and videos directly in chats.
A gallery button for beta testers has replaced the WhatsApp camera shortcut in the chat bar. This change made it possible to share existing photos and videos easily, but not everyone used the camera shortcut so they could take quick shots on the go.
In response to the feedback, WhatsApp reintroduced both shortcuts in the chat bar. This will now show the user two buttons in the chat window—one to snap a photo or video on the camera while awaiting a reaction and another to browse and share images or videos from their gallery.
These two shortcuts for WhatsApp’s chat interface allow you to upload photos or take new ones faster without fumbling around with more menus.
This is a beta update feature, so only a handful of testers can use it yet. The feature will start rolling out to a large number of users as the week progresses.
