Singer-songwriter Billie Eilish has been named Apple Music’s Artist of the Year for 2024. This prestigious honour celebrates Billie’s monumental contributions year-round.
The announcement comes on the heels of her epic Academy Awards and Grammy wins in the song “What Was I Made For?” for her performance in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie.
When Billie released her third album, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, in 2024, it was met with praise to the hilt, instantly topping Apple Music’s all-genre albums list in 138 countries.
This album not only demonstrated Billie’s ability to be vulnerable and unapologetic but is considered her greatest musical album yet.
Other than her musical projects, Billie’s impact reaches across the cultural landscape. For example, she sang “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” powerfully during the closing ceremony of the summer games.
In addition, she and Charli XCX’s collaboration “Guess” was one of the summer’s biggest hits.
The end of her Year continues with a sold-out tour of Hit Me Hard and Soft, adding to her outstanding Year heading into 2025. To celebrate her musical genius, Billie has been nominated seven times for Grammy Awards.
She also became the first person to receive two Apple Music Artist of the Year awards, the first in 2019.
Billie’s journey, from her sensational debut WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? to her latest smash with Hit Me Hard and Soft, speaks volumes about not only her inherent talent but also her innate ability to evolve and appeal to a large following.
As Billie says in her own words, she was so grateful for Apple Music’s ongoing support from the beginning of her journey and is thrilled to receive this recognition years later.
