Wunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian music sensation Mohbad, has spoken out about her early relationship with the musician, telling how their love story began on the social media platform 2Go.
In a recent interview with TVC, Wunmi said they met when she was 13 years old, marking the start of a decade-long relationship that finally led to marriage.
Wunmi reflected on their early beginnings: “I met him when I was 13 on 2Go. That was twelve years ago. I used to be a rapper, and he sang, so we became buddies. We were young then.
He was 15. He offered a relationship to me, and I agreed. We eventually got married and had a child together.” The couple’s transition from friendship to romance was defined by a common love of music and a profound connection that would develop over time.
Late Mohbad
Mohbad, Ilerioluwa Aloba, tragically died on September 12, 2023.
His unexpected death sent shockwaves through the Nigerian entertainment world, with many admirers lamenting the loss of a gifted performer.
Following his death, his father, Joseph Aloba, decided to bury him at Ikorodu, Lagos State, less than 24 hours later.
However, a dispute quickly erupted over the circumstances of Mohbad’s death.
Due to the uncertainty and theories surrounding his death, Joseph Aloba wanted his son’s body exhumed on September 21 for an examination.
The autopsy results are still pending, and the family is still seeking answers about what caused Mohbad’s sudden death.
Joseph Aloba has claimed that Mohbad’s remains will not be reburied until the autopsy results are disclosed, along with a DNA test to prove his grandson, Liam’s paternity.
Following Mohbad’s death, Wunmi has encountered her fair share of hardships. She has openly claimed that she was assaulted by Naira Marley and his associates, complicating the emotional landscape following her husband’s murder.
Furthermore, the continuous issue over Mohbad’s legacy has resulted in legal battles, including a lawsuit against Mohbad’s mother, in which Prime Boy seeks N50 million in damages for claimed slander.
Despite the turbulence, Wunmi remains focused on her son, Liam, who was born from her marriage to Mohbad.
The young boy’s similarity to his late father has been a source of debate, with Joseph Aloba declaring that Liam does not resemble Mohbad. This has only fueled the family’s need for answers and closure at this trying time.
