Mojisola Meranda, the first woman to be Speaker of the House of Assembly in Lagos State, quit her job, which paved the way for Mudashiru Obasa to take over the post.
Meranda, who is from Apapa Constituency I, said she was stepping down because of choices made by her party in her resignation speech on Monday.
In front of the 40-member Assembly, she said, “I am not a quitter.”
Even though she quit as Speaker, she was chosen again right away as Deputy Speaker of the House.
Obasa returns to the Speaker’s place after being removed from office.
