Davido Reveals Passion for Acting and Plans to Invest in African Films

Afrobeats sensation Davido has revealed a lesser-known side of himself, his love for acting and filmmaking.

In a recent chat with content creator Darryl, the music star shared that if he hadn’t become a world-famous musician, he would have still found his place in the entertainment industry, likely behind the camera.

“I studied business marketing, so I would have still been in the entertainment space [if I wasn’t singing] but probably, more of behind the scenes,” he explained.

Davido, whose full name is David Adeleke, is best known for chart-topping hits and sold-out shows across the globe. However, he’s now looking to expand his creative talents beyond music.

The singer announced plans to invest in multiple African film projects this year, teaming up with well-known director Dammy Twitch.

“I am investing in a couple of films this year. Shoutout to my director, Dammy Twitch. We have some ideas, series coming. The film space right now in Africa is going bankrupt. So, we are definitely going to tap into that,” he said.

This step marks a major move in Davido’s acting career journey, as he shifts from music videos to the big screen. According to him, acting isn’t entirely new. He’s been showcasing his acting skills in many of his popular music videos.

“I can also act. I can act for real. I act in my music videos. I acted in music videos like ‘Jowo’, ‘Nwa Baby’,” he added.

Fans are excited to see this new chapter in Davido’s entertainment journey, and many are hopeful that his influence will bring fresh energy to the African film industry.
