JUST IN: Pope Francis Dies At 88 After 12-Year Papacy
Pope Francis has died at the age of 88, bringing an end to a significant 12-year papacy that started in 2013.

The Vatican confirmed his passing early Monday morning, following several weeks of hospitalization due to a serious infection that evolved into pneumonia in both lungs.
As Catholics across the globe enter a time of mourning, the Vatican has stated that the Conclave, where cardinals will convene to choose the next pope, will not take place, and it will be located in Rome’s Esquilino district.
His remains will lie in St. Peter’s Basilica, allowing the faithful the opportunity to pay their final tributes.
In contrast to many of his predecessors who were interred within the Vatican grounds, Pope Francis will be buried at the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, situated in Rome’s Esquilino district.
His remains will lie in state in St. Peter’s Basilica, enabling the faithful to offer their last respects.
