Ghanaian Cardinal Peter Turkson Emerges as Top Contender to Become First Black Pope

Cardinal Peter Turkson is admired not just for his religious commitment but also for his intellectual depth and global perspective. Fluent in several languages, including English, Italian, French, and German, he is known for his thoughtful and moderate views.

He has also spoken out on key issues, especially around social justice, the environment, and human rights. While he respects traditional African values, Turkson has openly challenged harsh anti-LGBTQ+ laws in Africa, calling for compassion and dignity for all.
