Lagos Residents Protest Against High House Rents and Agent Fees
Lagos residents recently took to the streets to express their frustration over the high cost of renting homes and the extra charges often demanded by house agents in the city.

The Lagos house rent protest gained attention after a video surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), showing a car packed with passionate protesters driving through the streets of Lagos. At the front of the car, a large banner clearly stated the purpose of the movement.
The message on the poster read: “Enough is enough, we say no to overpriced house rents. We say no to housing agents. Agents of darkness.”
As the video made the rounds online, many Nigerians took to the comment section to share their thoughts and support for the protest.

A user, @amos_bakare, wrote: “We need to take this serious because any young person trying to live in Lagos will face these wicked people.”
Another user, @history_square, commented: “Such protests are long overdue. They should also speak with the right government authorities.”
