NDLEA Seizes Canadian Loud in Lagos Hotel Raid

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized 589 bags of Canadian loud, a powerful type of cannabis, during a major operation at a hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The drugs, weighing 417.3 kilograms, are estimated to be worth over ₦1 billion on the street.

The operation was revealed in a statement released on Sunday, April 27, 2025, by Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy.

According to him, the raid happened after a detailed search of an 80-room, five-storey hotel building known as The Hook Hotel, also called Caesar Hotel and Caesar Lounge, located at 16 Waziri Ibrahim Street, off Elsie Femi Pearse Street, Victoria Island.

During the raid, NDLEA officers arrested three suspects: Eze Ayitu, Ofuokwu Samuel, and Emmanuel Ameh. Two other suspects, identified as Noble Philip and his partner Kenneth, managed to escape and are currently on the run.

Along with the large drug haul, the agency also seized several vehicles believed to be bought with drug money. These include: A Toyota Prado Landcruiser Jeep (Lagos AKD 472 OZ), a Toyota Sienna (Lagos KJA 79 HJ), Volkswagen Delivery Van (Lagos AAA 525 JE), Kia Ceranto (Lagos BDG 860 GQ) and Grand Caravan Dodge (Lagos APP 847 YF).

In addition to the cars, NDLEA officers found 74 brand-new television sets, 10 used TVs, and 13 refrigerators among other household items during the search.

Babafemi said the latest operation is part of the NDLEA’s ongoing efforts to crack down on drug trafficking, especially those hiding behind businesses that seem legitimate. He also warned that the agency will continue to go after individuals and groups involved in illegal drug activities.

“This operation sends a clear message that no drug trafficker, no matter how well they try to hide, will be spared. We are committed to exposing and dismantling drug networks across the country,” Babafemi said.

The bust at Victoria Island highlights how drug dealers are now using luxury hotels and lounges as cover for their operations. The NDLEA has promised to intensify its crackdown to protect the public and ensure drug dealers are brought to justice.
