Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has stirred up serious conversations online after making a bold statement about young Barcelona star, Lamine Yamal.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) page, Odumodublvck praised the teenager’s incredible talent, saying that Lamine Yamal is better than Lionel Messi was at the same age. According to him, when Messi was 17, he wasn’t as outstanding as Yamal currently is.

Sharing his thoughts, Odumodublvck wrote:
“Yamal is better than Lionel Messi. Na me, Kala talk am. At 17, Messi was not touching this [Yamal’s] level. I saw him live. I saw him, you cannot whine me. Nobody can whine me.”

This strong opinion immediately sparked mixed reactions across social media. Many football fans and followers shared their views, either agreeing or disagreeing with the rapper.

Here are some of the reactions:

  • @thebigdammy joked: “Cole Palmer is better than both of them.”
  • @fcbharrison disagreed, saying: “You just enjoy Yamal, he’s nothing close to Messi. Messi had to compete with Ronaldinho, Etoo, and Henry for a spot when he was a teenager. I wonder if Yamal would have made it in that era. Just enjoy Yamal and stop comparing!”
  • @little_finger_c suggested a softer comparison: “Rephrase: Yamal at 17 is better than Messi at 17.”
  • @swagnito added a reminder: “There are individual and team records. Yamal might never win the Ballon d’Or as early as Messi did. Yamal can’t score 92 goals in a calendar year like Messi either.”
