EFCC Declares Elie Bitar Wanted Over CBEX Crypto Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared 41-year-old foreign national, Elie Bitar, wanted over his alleged involvement in a massive cryptocurrency scam tied to the online trading platform, Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX).

According to an official notice released by the EFCC, Bitar is accused of playing a key role in a fraudulent investment scheme that used the CBEX platform to scam thousands of Nigerians. The platform, which suddenly crashed in April, reportedly led to the loss of over N1.3 trillion from investors’ digital wallets.

“The public is hereby notified that Elie Bitar, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for fraud allegedly perpetrated on an online trading platform called Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX),” the statement read.

The EFCC explained that their investigations have so far uncovered a trail of suspicious financial transactions linked to Bitar and several accomplices. Some of those involved have already been arrested as the probe continues.

Bitar’s last known address, according to the Commission, is Eng. George Enemoh Crescent, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State. However, his current location remains unknown.

The EFCC has urged Nigerians to come forward with any useful information about Bitar’s whereabouts. Citizens can reach out to any of their zonal offices in Ibadan, Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Kano, Sokoto, Uyo, Gombe, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, or Maiduguri.

The agency has assured the public that it will not rest until everyone involved in the Elie Bitar crypto fraud is held accountable. The Commission stressed its commitment to protecting Nigerian citizens from financial scams, especially those tied to cryptocurrency and digital investments.
