Price of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Patek Wristwatch Sparks Outrage
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently facing public backlash after being seen wearing a luxury wristwatch reportedly worth over $61,000 while meeting Nigerian chess champion, Tunde Onakoya.

The wristwatch, a Patek Philippe model, is said to cost around $61,280—an amount that translates to roughly ₦94 million at the official exchange rate.
The president wore the timepiece during a recent meeting to celebrate Onakoya’s record-breaking achievement in the longest chess marathon, a feat recognized by the Guinness World Records.
However, the sight of such an expensive accessory has triggered criticism across social media platforms. Many Nigerians expressed disappointment, pointing to the country’s current economic challenges, including inflation, food scarcity, and rising poverty levels.
