Actor Femi Branch Accused of Assaulting Crew Member on Nollywood Set

Popular Nollywood actor, Femi Branch, is at the center of controversy following allegations that he physically assaulted a crew member during a film shoot.

The incident, which reportedly happened between 3:30 PM and 4:30 PM on the eighth day of a nine-day production, has sparked conversations about professionalism and respect in the Nigerian film industry.

According to reports, the tension began while the crew was transitioning between filming locations. At the time, Camera A was set up outside, and Camera B was still being arranged inside the location.

The Director of Photography (DP) and the First Assistant Director (1st A.D.) were still setting up Camera B when the director suddenly began shooting with Camera A—without informing the rest of the team.

“I was knocking on the door, trying to get the DP out so he could check the camera frame,” the Assistant Director said. “Then Femi Branch shouted that they were already filming, and I asked what they were shooting when we hadn’t even set the frame.”

Things quickly escalated. The Femi Branch assault incident began with a verbal exchange in which the actor allegedly insulted the Assistant Director, saying, “your head is not correct.” The 1st A.D. responded by reminding everyone that it was within his role to stop filming if the setup wasn’t complete.

“He got furious and started yelling at me,” the 1st A.D. recalled. “As he walked in aggressively, I told him he couldn’t intimidate me. That’s when he hit me.”

The confrontation stunned the entire crew. Many stood in support of the Assistant Director and refused to continue shooting until the actor apologized.

The production moved to its final location at Lekki Conservation Centre, but filming was put on hold as the crew demanded an apology from Femi Branch before work could resume.

“When he arrived at the new location and was asked to apologize, he refused and tried to walk off the set,” the Assistant Director added. “The crew then locked the gate to stop him from leaving.”

As of now, Femi Branch has not released a public statement about the situation.
