2027: All Democratic Alliance (ADA) Begins Nationwide Mobilisation

A new political movement, the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), has officially kicked off a series of mobilisation and awareness campaigns across Nigeria.

The aim is to build a strong and credible opposition that can challenge the current government and reshape the country’s political future.

According to recent reports, ADA has intensified its outreach efforts across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones. The party is reaching out to influential politicians and key stakeholders in a bid to grow its ranks and strengthen its political base.

The ADA, backed by members of a growing anti-Tinubu coalition, includes some prominent political figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and political heavyweight Dr. Umar Ardo, among others.

The coalition had earlier considered teaming up with existing parties like the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Social Democratic Party (SDP), but eventually decided to float a new political party instead.

Earlier this year, the Nigeria National Coalition Group (NNCG) submitted a formal application to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) seeking the registration of the All Democratic Alliance as a political party.

The application, signed by Chief Akin A. Rickets, who is the Protem National Chairman of the group, urged INEC to approve the registration. In the letter, Chief Rickets explained that the ADA was birthed by the NNCG’s desire to create a new, people-focused political platform in Nigeria.

“We respectfully write to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, requesting the registration of our association, the All Democratic Alliance, ADA, as a political party,” the letter stated.

He added that the party’s name would be All Democratic Alliance (ADA), and its slogan is “Justice for All.” The party’s national secretariat details were also included in the application.

In addition to the registration request, ADA submitted its party manifesto, which outlines the group’s ideology, goals, and vision for the country. 

Also attached was its constitution, which sets out the rules, internal structure, and legal guidelines that will govern the party in line with Section 40 and 222 of the Nigerian Constitution, as well as Section 75 of the Electoral Act 2022.
