Former Nigerian senator, Shehu Sani, has shared his thoughts on Elon Musk’s involvement in U.S. political matters, especially his recent clash with President Donald Trump.

In a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, Sani advised Musk to distance himself from American politics and instead focus on his businesses.

He also suggested that the tech billionaire should take some time to reconnect with his South African background.

This comes after a heated disagreement between Elon Musk and American politics, particularly around a policy bill pushed by Trump. Their public fallout drew lots of attention last month.

“Elon should leave Trump and American politics. He should reconcile with his South African roots and focus on building his businesses,” Sani said in his post.

He also warned Musk not to get carried away by online supporters cheering him on in the comments.

Sani further noted that businesspeople who dive too deep into political matters often suffer negative consequences.

He added that no matter how much effort someone puts into fitting into an adopted country, there’s always the chance they’ll be reminded that they’re not truly part of it.
