The Muhammadu Buhari burial took place following the Islamic funeral prayer (janaza) held around 4:50 pm.

His body, flown in from London earlier that day, arrived aboard a Nigerian Air Force aircraft. The flight was accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and several senior government officials.

Security was extremely tight during the arrival and burial. Armed soldiers, DSS operatives, and armoured vehicles were seen securing major roads and key points in Daura.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu also arrived in Katsina that same afternoon to attend the burial. He was joined by First Lady Senator Remi Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and other dignitaries.

A delegation from the Republic of Niger was also present, showing how far Buhari’s influence and diplomatic relationships extended beyond Nigeria’s borders.

The burial was conducted in accordance with Islamic customs and was filled with emotions as mourners gathered to pay their last respects.
