Saudi’s ‘Sleeping Prince’ Waleed Bin Khaled Bin Talal Dies After 20-Year In Coma
Prince Al Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal, widely recognised as Saudi Arabia’s “Sleeping Prince”, has passed away after almost two decades in a coma.
The prince, a nephew of billionaire investor Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, entered a coma following a severe car accident in 2005 and had remained on life support since. His condition captured the attention of the Arab world, with many following his long fight.
On Saturday, the family announced his passing through a statement on X, expressing “profound sadness and sorrow,” and revealed that his funeral would take place in Riyadh on Sunday.

The prince’s enduring battle and final farewell have drawn heartfelt tributes from citizens and officials, bringing an end to a 20-year story of courage and hope that resonated with millions.
