UK Conservative Party leader and politician, Kemi Badenoch, has said she no longer feels a strong connection to Nigeria, the country where she spent part of her early life.

Speaking on the Rosebud podcast, Badenoch shared that she hasn’t renewed her Nigerian passport since the early 2000s.

While she still keeps an eye on what’s happening in Nigeria, she admitted that the UK now feels more like her true home.

“I’ve not renewed my Nigerian passport, I think, since the early 2000s,” she said. “I’ve never quite felt that I belonged there. I don’t identify with it anymore.”

Badenoch, who is 45 years old, was born in Wimbledon, South West London. She spent some years in Nigeria after her birth, but her family eventually returned to the UK.

She explained that her parents felt Nigeria wasn’t a country where their children could build a successful future.
