Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong has contended that the recent airport incident involving Fuji music maestro King Wasiu Ayinde, also known as KWAM1, has been managed differently thus far due to his friendship with President Bola Tinubu.
During a conversation with Channels TV, Inibehe expressed that KWAM1’s apology lacks substance, asserting that he has committed a crime and should face trial for it.
He contended that every inmate in the custodial centres would appreciate the chance to apologise for their wrongdoing to attain their freedom.

He stated that Evans the Kidnapper, who is presently incarcerated, has expressed remorse for his actions, and, similar to KWAM1, the government ought to grant him forgiveness and end his imprisonment.
Inibehe stated that the belief that the law is lenient towards the powerful and harsh on the weak is what will lead to numerous issues in Nigeria.
In his words
‘’I doubt if there is any inmate in Kirikiri that is not willing to offer an apology to be freed. Evans, the convicted kidnapper, has apologised; let the government free him since Nigeria is now setting free people who violate the law on an apology.
I saw Abike Erewa saying, ‘To err is human.’ So if an apology is now the national policy for being free after going against the law, all Nigerians should be given the same opportunity.
What KWAM1 did cannot be tolerated. Do you know why he was so audacious? He is a friend of the president. He is connected to the high and mighty. You would have also seen the audio circulating where he allegedly threatened the owner of the airline. What do you think emboldens him? Because impunity has become our culture.
