Ray Lewis III, Son of NFL legend Ray Lewis, dies at 28

Ray Lewis III, a former collegiate football player and the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Ray Lewis, passed away at the age of 28.

Rahsaan Lewis, Lewis’s younger brother, posted the information on social media.

It said, “Really can’t believe I’m even typing this but RIP big brother,” in a tribute uploaded to his story on his verified Instagram account.

No information on Lewis III’s cause of death has been made public.

Lewis III attended Florida’s Lake Mary Prep High School. Later, he played college football for Virginia Union, Coastal Carolina, and the University of Miami.

The younger Lewis played cornerback at Coastal Carolina and Division II Virginia Union after beginning his career as a running back in his native Florida.

Diego Ryland, the assistant head coach at Virginia Union, told TMZ Sports, “Great young man and a better teammate.”

He said, “The entire Virginia Union University community is praying for the family as they deal with the loss of Ray.”

From 1996 through 2012, Ray Lewis, now 48, was a member of the Baltimore Ravens. A two-time Super Bowl winner, Super Bowl 35 MVP, two-time defensive player of the year, and seven-time first-team All-Pro, he concluded his playing career with these accomplishments. In 2018, he was admitted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Ray Lewis, 48, played with the Baltimore Ravens from 1996-2012. He finished his career as a two-time Super Bowl champion, Super Bowl 35 MVP, a two-time defensive player of the year, and was first-team All-Pro seven times. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
