Tobi Amusan confirms being charged with anti-doping rules following her coming short with three drug tests in the last 12 months.

The World-record hurdler and Nigerian athlete, Tobi Amusan made this known through her Instagram page on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, where she declared that she would fight the charges while defending her World Championships title in Budapest come August 2023.

She added that;
“I am a clean athlete and I am regularly; (maybe more than the usual) tested by the AIU- I was tested within days of my third “missed test”. I have faith that this will be resolved in my favor and that I will be competiting at the World Championships in August,” Amusan said.
According to the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules, a violation of the anti-doping rule is defined as any combination of three whereabouts failures (Filing Failure and/or Missed Test) within a 12-month period. The applicable sanction for this violation is 2 years of ineligibility, subject to a reduction to a minimum of 1 year depending on the degree of fault.
On Sunday, July 16, Amusan won the Diamond League competition in Silesia. This triumph followed one in Stockholm.
She lost to Puerto Rican Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, the defending Olympic champion, who won the women’s 100-meter hurdles event at the Golden Spike sports competition in the Czech Republic last month and placed third.
