#EndBadGovernanceProtest: Lagos is witnessing a wave of relentless demonstrations, as the city’s inhabitants have decided to continue to protest actions today, August 5, at the Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota.
Fueled by an unyielding spirit and a determination to make their voices heard, the citizens of Lagos are further strengthening their resolve.
The initiative, driven strongly by numerous organizers, has generated massive participation across the city, signalling the potency of collective action and the residents’ commitment to addressing their grievances.
The protest activities showcase a significant response from the masses participating in these demonstrations effectively and peacefully. Constant updates and live information from the ground zero of the protest are being shared on various social platforms to ensure widespread reach and visibility.
“We consider the President’s decision to address the nation an important victory for our movement,” the organizers said.
This acknowledgment would not have happened without our courage and resolve to dare the odds. So far, we have demonstrated that a President is not greater than the rest of the country,” the statement from the protest group reads.
This surge of civic action in Lagos is a firm demonstration of democracy in practice, a testament to the power of people when they stand up and speak up for what they believe in.
“In our view, the president cannot be approbating and reprobating simultaneously. The President cannot offer an olive branch while at the same time holding a dagger to our throat,” the trio said.
The ongoing protest is expected to gather momentum with each passing day as organizers and citizens remain undeterred in pursuing justice and change. Today, Lagos is a city united and galvanized by its people’s spirit and shared vision of a better tomorrow.
