Sylvester Madu, a Nollywood actor, managed to flee as gunmen broke into the place he was at and murdered four people.
On November 23, 2023, Madu relocated to Bamenda, Cameroon, to work on a movie production.
Around ten o’clock on Saturday, November 25, Madu and a few other people were hanging out at the bar when some unidentified gunmen broke in. They opened fire, leaving ten people injured and four dead.
The film studio, DAMA Films, confirmed the event on Monday, November 27. The statement read, “On November 23, 2023, Nollywood actor Sylvester Madu was received in Bamenda for a movie shoot advocating against hard drug addiction.”
“We got an invitation to make a guest appearance at BIG G VIP, which is situated at Mile 3 Nkwen, while the movie ended. At 3 pm, Big G’s snooker championship got underway, and everything went smoothly as spectators met Sylvester Madu.
We heard gunshots from outside at ten o’clock at night, and many people fled frantically, which resulted in four civilian deaths and more than ten injuries. Actor Sylvester Madu of Nollywood was safe since the police intervened and dispersed the mob.
“The police have assured the safety of Sylvester Madu and his subsequent trip to his country, Nigeria, and are currently conducting investigations to that effect.”
