Manchester City‘s struggling players were obliged to sleep at the club’s training field overnight before their 12.30 pm Boxing Day match against Everton.
Pep Guardiola said his players were taken away from their families on Christmas Day, hoping they would welcome the measure with open arms.
‘We train today (Tuesday), tomorrow (Wednesday) night, stay here, and play on Boxing Day,’ Guardiola stated.
‘I hope they want to be here because it’s our job.’
Guardiola remarked, ‘This circumstance is new to all of us. It is all about us, everyone. The boys are jogging and working harder than ever.
‘People say we’re not running or fighting because of this player or this management, but that’s not the case.
‘It is a combination of small and large details that cause us to fall short of our potential. However, we have another opportunity on Boxing Day.
‘We have players returning, and we will be better at some point.’

City has lost nine of their last 12 games, the worst run of Guardiola’s managerial tenure, and their last victory came against Nottingham Forest on December 4.
