Desire Oparanozie of the Super Falcons has apologised to Nigerians for failing to score her penalty during the Round of 16 match against England at the FIFA Women’s World Cup on Monday, August 7, in Melbourne.
Nigeria failed to proceed to the quarter-finals of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 after losing 4-2 on a spot kick against England.
The two countries failed to score in 90 minutes, and the score remained deadlocked after 30 minutes of extra time. They then went to spot kicks, which determined Nigeria’s faith.
Oparanozie, who failed to convert her penalty shot, posted a photo of herself in tears on Instagram and apologised for the team’s Round of 16 loss through a penalty shoot-out.
