Damilola Matuluko, a Nigerian lady, died after being hit by a metro bus in downtown Houston on Friday morning, May 31.
According to ABC News, the unfortunate incident occurred between Rusk and Smith shortly before 7:40 a.m., which was the bus driver’s responsibility.
According to the METRO Police Department, Damilola, a city worker, was in the crosswalk at the junction with the right of way when the accident occurred. Investigations revealed that the signal turned green, and the bus went into Rusk, killing the dead.
METRO stated that First Transit ran the bus, and the contract driver was working on investigations. The bus carried two people, but no additional casualties were recorded.
Damilola Matuluko, a member of the city’s HR Operations Employee Relations unit since 2023, was named the victim by officials. “Even though Damilola had only recently joined the HR Department, she quickly became a beloved and influential team member. COH HR Director Jane Cheeks commented, “She will be sincerely missed by her colleagues in the City of Houston.”
Meanwhile, her friends and relatives have gone to social media to grieve her death.
