Shocking As Man Allegedly Keeps Wife’s Corpse In Freezer To Illegally Claim Her Pension

A Swedish court condemned a Norwegian man to three and a half years in prison after police discovered his deceased wife’s body in a freezer, where he maintained it while collecting her pension.

According to an English-language Norwegian news source, the 57-year-old man informed friends and relatives that his 60-year-old partner was alive and well even after she died from cancer in 2018.

“They didn’t want to be buried in a public cemetery, but at the farm, actually,” the man’s lawyer told the local paper Nya Wermlands-Tidningen. “So he put her in the freezer to bury her outside later, and then it fell by the wayside.”

According to reports, the woman’s family reported her missing after losing communication with her after her husband made many reasons, including claiming that she no longer wanted to interact with them.

Following a tip, police discovered her remains in March, and the man acknowledged concealing her death and body.

He initially stated that he did so to wait until spring to bury her near their farm in Varmland.

According to one account, the man allegedly sliced up his partner and placed her in the freezer, where he also kept food that he ate.

“The man also used the freezer for other purposes, which I argue means that the deceased person’s sanctity of the grave was violated every time the man opened and closed the freezer, which is an aggravating circumstance,” a prosecutor contended.

Prosecutors revealed that the suspect made little less than $117,000 from his “systemic” fraud operation.

The individual had also changed the ownership and registration of vehicles under the deceased’s name.

During his trial, the guy claimed he could still connect with his spouse through telepathy. Still, court-appointed doctors had earlier decided the man did not have any mental disorder, and further testing confirmed this.

The individual was eventually convicted on counts including flagrant violation of civil rights, massive fraud, mutilating a corpse, and document falsification.

Prosecutors sought a four-year prison sentence, but the judge reduced it and ordered the guy to reimburse the money he stole through his scam.
