Famous South Korean Actress Kim Sae-Ron, 24, Found Dead
Kim Sae-Ron, 24, a South Korean actress, was found dead in her Seongsu-dong flat, authorities reported on Sunday.
According to authorities, a friend discovered her body at about 4:55 PM (07:55 GMT). Investigators indicated that no evidence of foul play was discovered, and an official investigation into the cause of death is underway.
Kim, who began acting as a toddler, was recognised as one of South Korea’s brightest young talents. She garnered international recognition for her appearance in A Brand New Life (2009), which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
She later appeared in numerous hit films, including The Man from Nowhere (2010), South Korea’s highest-grossing picture that year, and The Neighbour (2012), for which she got an award.
Her other significant works are the 2014 film A Girl at My Door and the 2016 drama Mirror of the Witch.
Kim mainly disappeared from public life in 2022 after a drunk driving incident, for which she was fined 20 million won (£11,000) in April 2023.
Her last role was in Netflix’s 2023 Korean thriller Bloodhounds, although most of her scenes were cut owing to the controversy.
