APC’s Joe Igbokwe Slams Atiku and Obi 2027 Alliance as Desperate Move

A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has strongly criticised the rumored political alliance between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to reports, Atiku who ran for president under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections  is allegedly planning a comeback in 2027 and considering Peter Obi as his running mate. The idea of a one-term presidency deal, with Atiku stepping down after one term to allow Obi to contest in 2031, has also been making rounds.

Reacting to the reported plan, Joe Igbokwe did not hold back his thoughts. In a post on his verified Facebook page on Monday, he described the Atiku and Obi 2027 alliance as unserious, desperate, and bound to fail.

He wrote:

“Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s childish and primitive deal with Labour Party is laughable and kindergarten. It is an act of desperation. It cannot fly and it cannot sell.”

Igbokwe, a known supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, made it clear that the ruling APC is not shaken by what he believes to be a weak and unrealistic strategy from the opposition.
