President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima have presented evidence to support their claim that Peter Obi is not a member of the Labour Party. They provided an alleged register of the party for Anambra state as proof.
Tinubu and Shettima argued that Obi did not meet the eligibility criteria to run in the previous presidential election under the Labour Party since he is not a member of the opposition party.
Their legal representative, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), submitted the register to the court and a letter from the Labour Party dated April 25, 2022. The letter was addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and contained the membership register.
Although Obi and the lawyer representing the Labour Party, Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), objected to the admission of these documents, the court accepted them as evidence. The documents were marked as Exhibits RA17 and RA18.
