Elon Musk’s Grok AI Chatbot To Answer Questions Other AI Tends To Avoid(All You Need To Know)

Elon Musk’s Grok, an AI chatbot developed by xAI, has officially launched Elon Musk’s new rival. This rebellious sidekick aims to “answer spicy questions” that other AI chatbots tend to avoid.

Although currently invite-only in the US as a very early beta product, Musk has announced plans to integrate Grok into the X Premium Plus subscription, available for $16/£16/AU$28 per month or $168/£168/AU$270 per year.

Similar to ChatGPT, Grok is a large language model (LLM) designed to provide research assistance and answer a wide range of inquiries. Unlike its competitors, Grok stands out for its humorous approach and real-time access to knowledge from X (formerly Twitter).

However, concerns may arise regarding the reliability of information obtained from X as a source. Grok offers “regular” and “fun” modes to cater to various user preferences.

Although Grok was trained with 33 billion parameters four months ago, which falls short of the 170 trillion parameters used in training OpenAI’s GPT-4, xAI asserts that its early AI model approaches Llama 2’s capabilities on standard benchmarks.

Recent improvements in reasoning and coding abilities suggest that Grok has reached a similar level as Claude-2 and GPT-3.5 in language model benchmarks. The true effectiveness of Grok’s real-world application is yet to be fully assessed when it becomes widely available.

Grok’s main distinction from competitors like ChatGPT lies in its focus on humor. xAI intends Grok to answer controversial questions that other AI systems reject, embracing wit and rebelliousness. Grok carries a warning label that reads, “Please don’t use it if you hate humor!”—reflecting Musk’s influence in its development.

One of the frustrations expressed by ChatGPT users has been the chatbot’s reluctance to engage with taboo subjects due to safeguarding protocols. xAI and Elon Musk believe that these limitations have gone too far, prompting the creation of Grok.

In April, Musk revealed plans to launch a ChatGPT competitor called TruthGPT, as he felt existing AI giants prioritized safeguarding to the detriment of providing comprehensive answers.

Grok’s aspiration extends beyond being a meme-savvy chatbot. xAI aims for Grok to assist humanity in its quest for understanding and knowledge, providing a unique and humorous approach to interacting with AI.
